New to this tribe, hi.

I have recently ordered the exo terra terrarium 24"x18"x24" ..... it looks amazing! Has anyone tried these yet?

I have four fire bellied toads and one dumpy tree frog. I have had them for about two years and everyone is energetic and living in harmony theres just one thing I have noticed. My tree from has been brown since two weeks after leaving the pet store when I bought him he was bright green. I've had them in a 45gallon aquarium and I am hoping that the new tank will give me more "tree" space for him to spread out and I've considered getting him a friend as his buddy died shortly after we got them home. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to get him perky green again?

I have one of those tanks and love them. They do very well with wet/dry conditions like a frod would require. You can set up a nice 'pool' in the lower portion and have the upper area 'dry' with branches for climbing. Worked great for my newts too. Enjoy...

I would probably recommend this type of tank to those that want to attempt to keep some of the Asian agamids. That is after one has visited one's "herp" vet and tried to do something about purging the lizard of its internal parasite load.

but the exoterras have a screen to and looses lots of humidety so whouldnt recomend m for frogs even when they r from dry areas and those exoterras r verry small so only good for small species i think

Well I got it. Love it! Mines pretty big and my little guys are really happy, the dumpy tree frog is healthier than he's ever been. The shape seems more conducive to the wandering of frogs than a fish tank.

Square vs rectangle, the toads want to wander and have their territory on the floor of the tank, while dumpy stays up in the tree I built for him ( except when he bathes). Seems to be more circular where fish go back and forth keeping territory in varying heights as well as locations more of an elongated venture. Oh well, just my hobbyist observation, not an expert.

dicy~ How would you do it and keep the temp up without a screen top? I can't use a heat pad cause I have water in the bottom of the tank and it would boil my fire bellied toads so I have always used lights from above. Without a light/heat source everyone would be pissed and die out of spite if not by freezing. My curiosity is peaked!

I placed a very small underwater aquarium heater in the bottom where the water is and it keeps the temp up where I need it. Not sure how much water you have in yours but this has worked very well for me. Also deperning on how you are circulating the water, Tetra makes a small heater that goes inside one of their filters. I think they make it for turtle setups but it might work in your scenario.

          Good luck
