Carl, a very large black throated african monitor, who came home from college with my son (lizard did better than boy ;) is in need of a loving lizard savy new home. How should I go about this. I want to do this the "right" way as I have become enamored of him but he truly deserves someone who LOVES lizards...large lizards. Any help, guys? Thanks, ~*~ Bounty

Looks like a Savahna Monitor, they are also very docile, or another name for one. I've kept them in the past. How big is he? I'm interested but live on the east coast . I also have all the equipment to keep one. I am going to Cali at the end of next month i'll be in Santa cruz area for a board retreat for 3 days and then i have one free day before heading home. email me at: jimi@earthdrum.com with your phone # and best times to call, we'll talk,

You know, as far as his "type" I'm a lizard dork. All I can say is that he is a super guy. He's over 3 feet long, very loving and rarely in a bad mood (hey, I should marry him!)......He's still here....I'll email you with the info....~*~ Bounty & Carl

Jimi....I need your help! I am home alone without my son and trying to take care of Carl the best I can. He is an amazing reptile....he's eye's glitter gold when I hold him....he is so gentle. Unfortunately, my hus-banned thinks of nothing when it comes to him. Sunlite? Feeding? Environment?......nada. I came home tonite after taking care of my mom (2 weeks out of surgery, which is not good for a human) and realized at 8:30 p.m. that "he" had not bothered to bring him in to his atrium and light. (he'd been on my sundeck) "He" is frightened (translation= lazy and does't give a shit") of sweet Carl. You have to tell me what he needs. Vitamins, yes, done. Should I help clean off the dead scales? And, most importantly, do you want him. Otherwise, tell me how best to care for this creature of the Goddess. I guess he is an illegal alien, right? I'm tired.....moving my son down to San Diego by myself on half a knee (oh, the whining!) and having received numerous emails about "taking" him is driving me nuts. I'm afraid he'll go to a black market situation if I'm not extremely careful with his placement (cuz, indeed, he is a black-throat). Why is it illegal to have him? HELP! I adore this guy, but don't think we are a perfect match....I'm a canine girl, know nothing about reptiles...but am willing to do my best. Jeez, Jimi, this is harder then finding a friggin' adoptive parent for a human child. I might sound a bit manic (duh)......I'm still recovering, trying to do what's right........Bounty/Holly/Momma Bear
